Founded in 1998 by Jim Dakin, our Canadian and family owned company always been focused on providing quality equipment at competitive pricing. Over the years, we have evolved into Edmonton’s largest Aerial Work Platform rental house. We have done so by being a customer-first company. Our local knowledge with internationally handpicked inventory gives our customers an unparalleled selection of equipment.

CanSource Lifts has a diverse Rental Fleet of Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts, AWP’s and Forklifts, and has been servicing Edmonton and Western Canada for over 15 years.  We have flexible rental options ranging from daily rates, right up to monthly rental rates.  With our friendly staff, quick service and competitive pricing, we have strived to become the leader of Western Canada’s Rental Market.  We also sell new and used machines to our clients.  Whether your need is short term, or the long term purchase and maintenance of a lift, CanSource Lifts is ready to help.

With the Rental Market growing, CSL Transportation Services was a natural progression.  CSL Transportation moves CanSource Lifts Rentals across Metro Edmonton.  With our experienced and skilled truck drivers, we have the ability to move things, big or small.  While our focus is the transportation services related to the construction industry in Western Canada, we also specialize in moving all types of heavy equipment including the growing market of Sea Container transportation and storage. With our variety of truck and trailer combination, CSL can move graders, loaders, forklifts, dozers, excavators, Sea Cans, etc. Our fleet of late model highway tractors, equipped with specialized equipment trailers, provides our customers with the confidence that their equipment will be on site and on time every time. Our drivers are AWP Safety Certified Operators and Reach Forklift Certified.

CSL Group of Companies has evolved from the rental of lifts, to a full service operation including skilled in-house service technicians. Our service department has the training and factory assistance to fix all jobs big or small. Furthermore, CSL is an authorized service provider for all major aerial manufacturers. Whether it’s an engine service or complete restoration, our highly knowledgeable service technicians fix both customers owned and CSL units on-site with our Mobile Service Technicians or in our 15000 sq.ft. in house shop. CanSource Lifts also carries parts for all makes and models of lift equipment. Our knowledgeable staff can provide both OEM and aftermarket parts to keep your units working.

CanSource Group of Companies has become much more than the average Rental House.  The equipment that CSL rents and sells to clients can be very dangerous if not used properly, so a new division of CanSource Lifts was needed. CSL started an on-site Familiarization Training program.  We saw a need to provide the client with specific unit training on the operation and safety procedures.  When our trainer first arrives on site, he is making sure that the operator has the proper training required, and then reviews the basic operations of the make and model of equipment, as well as go though the basic safety procedures of the machine, such as where the Emergency Stop Button is and how to use the ground controls in case of an emergency, as well as field questions from operators on site.  Familiarization training helps rule out operator confusion in the case of service calls, as well as provides a quick refresher for safety on the Ariel Work Platform being used.

From there, the CSL Safety Training department was born.  As Occupational Health and Safety began pushing for all workers to be trained on Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), CSL Safety founder Dallas Dakin sat down to write his first AWP Course.  Since then, Dallas has also taken his knowledge of equipment operation and experience and written courses on AWP Fall Protection, Skid Steer Loader, Rough Terrain, and Conventional Forklift to name just a few.  In 2002, CSL Safety was approached by NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) to develop a program which was later modified for the oil and gas safety programs typically used in northern Alberta. CSL Safety has also included the sale of Safety Gear to students as part of the services provided, as well as the development of 6 safety Applications (available to the public on Google play), with downloads spanning as far as Burma, China, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates to name a few.

While continuing to be a leader in the Ariel Work Platform Rental House Market, CanSource Lifts has outgrown its original building. In the summer of 2012 CanSource Lifts had moved into the brand new, custom built facility located at 12160-68th street in Edmonton, Alberta. While designing a new building had its challenges, it definitely had the benefits needed to continue to serve western Canada. The entire CanSource Group of Companies is now under one roof. CSL Safety and Training, CanSource Lifts, CanSource Transportation, as well as CSL Parts and CSL Service have all come together to help the customer find everything under one, convenient roof.
